Daniel Fast is a partial fast based on a whole food, plant based diet practiced by Adam and Eve
in the Garden of Eden. It is based upon the Old Testament prophet, Daniel, who intentionally and
willingly abstained from certain foods for spiritual reasons. The first time Daniel fasts is in
Daniel, Chapter 1:3-15.
Purpose of Fasting- Fasting is a spiritual discipline; meaning it is something we do for our
spiritual lives(well-being). We fast so that we can be still before God and hear what He has to say
to us. We are taking charge of our bodies rather than letting our body take charge of us. Fasting is
a sacrifice in such way that we deny the desires of the flesh to make our Spirit stronger.
Prayer- Prayer is simply a conversation between us and God. It is our opportunity to tell God our
deepest secrets and desires, to confess sins, ask for forgiveness, thank him and pray on behalf of
others.
Suggested Prayer Methods:
ACTS PRAYER METHOD
1.ADORATION- worship and glorifying God
2.CONFESSION- confess our sins
3.THANKSGIVING-thank God for all he has done
4.SUPPLICATION- pray for others
PRAY PRAYER METHOD
1.PRAISE- praise him for who he is
2.REPENT-admit your sims
3.ASK-prayer requests
4.YIELD-stop and listen to God
Show Me Your Will Lord
Turning your focus from ourselves towards God requires patience and discipline. Before we
met God , we used to make decisions on our own, we used to be ruled our own will, we did
things our own way and we had no problem with responding to our own fleshly desires.
When God came into our lives , we were asked to humbly submit to his great authority.
Doing so meant sacrificing our own will by doing things his way. We no longer make our
decisions on our own because we now consider what God has to say.
